Atlanta Communities, Continued

Below we will continue our theme of shining the proverbial spotlight on various Atlanta neighborhoods and communities. Each is with its own style and merits, so be sure to read about all of them before settling in on only one Atlanta area!

• East Atlanta Village – East Atlanta is predominantly known for its live music venues, restaurants, bars, and general nightlife. But folks looking for Atlanta condos for sale might be surprised to learn that once you get off the main strip, if you will, the surrounding area is largely quite and is a great place for young families to live!
• Edgewood – Known as a streetcar suburb to many, there are plenty of single-family homes that were constructed during the 1920s-1940s. These old homes were fairly close to public transportation so that Edgewood residents could easily commute to downtown. These days, Edgewood is still conveniently near public transportation, so folks looking to move to Atlanta who do not want to drive as much should find Edgewood high on their list of potential neighborhoods.
• Grant Park – Grant Park is quite close to Zoo Atlanta, and that fact alone makes it a great place for young families to live in Atlanta. As if a zoo being close by isn’t reason enough, Grant Park is also home to a whopping 131-acre park! So there is plenty of open space to enjoy whether you have the little ones or you’d like to stretch your legs in the sunshine on your own. Complete with Victorian-style homes and a wealth of bungalows, Grant Park’s architecture makes it a genuinely special place to visit, let alone call home.
• Inman Park and Little Five Points – The very first Atlanta streetcar suburb was found in Inman Park, a region that was developed all the way back in the 1880s. There exists a wealth of Victorian mansions along Euclid Avenue; Inman Park is now home to many high-society members. Since the 50s and 60s, the area has experienced something of a boom in both style and number of residents. Little Five Points, once called home by those belonging to a bohemian subculture, has turned into the host of a bustling nightlife scene. If you are looking to live within walking distance of theatres, clubs, and some fantastic restaurants, Little Five Points should be on your shortlist.
• Kirkwood – Kirkwood is yet another original streetcar suburb of Atlanta! Kirkwood is home to many young families who wish to raise their kids in an urban setting. Living in Kirkwood means you are within walking distance of a plethora of unique restaurants and small businesses that comprise Hosea Williams Drive.
• Midtown – In Midtown you can find the historic and picturesque Piedmont Park, along with a wealth of lovely homes built around the turn of the 19th century. Midtown boasts a variety of attractive aspects, from a thriving business district to a nightlife scene unlike any other in the entire city. Atlanta’s LGBTQ population, in particular, has taken a liking to Midtown, as the region grows with high-rise buildings and Midtown condos. The beauty of Midtown is that it hasn’t seemed to lose its storied charm throughout its modern transformation!
• Old Fourth Ward – Martin Luther King Jr. happens to be Old Fourth Ward’s most famous resident. Dr. King served as the reverend in the Ebenezer Baptist Church while he called the Old Fourth Ward his home as well. More recently, the Ponce City Market and the construction of the Beltline has made this Atlanta community a popular place to go, for both new residents and tourists alike. It’s little wonder, as Old Fourth Ward is full of historic sites, wonderful restaurants, and many other attractions.
• Poncey-Highlands – An ideal Atlanta neighborhood for young professionals, Poncey-Highlands is well within walking distance to other notable Atlanta neighborhoods, such as Inman Park, Little Five Points, and Virginia Highlands. Poncey-Highland Community Garden offers a secluded escape in the middle of the city, which residents no doubt cherish.
• Virginia Highlands – Originally inhabited by eastern European immigrants, Virginia Highlands features a wide array of salons, restaurants, bars, and boutiques. Of course, there is a nightlife scene here as well, which naturally lends itself to the nearby Emory University students’ and their young lifestyle!
• West End – Westview and Adair Park are located in the lovely neighborhood called West End. Victorian homes found along the southwest part of the Beltline, more and more folks are beginning to understand what makes West End such a great place to live.
• West Side – What used to be an industrial district has now become an area young professionals are enjoying the ability to call it home. Teeming with apartments, condos, breweries, restaurants, boutiques, and other entertainment venues, West Side of Atlanta offers the King Plow Art Center and the Goat Farm, along with many other attractions that the Georgia Tech student body, among others, finds worthwhile.
